This is a brand new kitchen fitted December 2013 and a high specification was required by the customer - a warm timeless, yet very modern kitchen. Built into a new extension and to exacting measurements, customisation was needed to some of the units for a neat fit at all the corners and to maximise the space available for units.
Steve worked with Howdens and the customer for the design and layout, and was able to incorporate all the customer's requests. In particular for there to be enough room for an american fridge freezer to the left of the built in oven. This was achieved by building a slimmer than usual stud wall on the left of the appliance to keep in line with the already existing internal wall (not shown in picture),thereby keeping a single smooth wall on the left of the entrance to the kitchen.
The Howden's Burford Cream kitchen and worktops arrived with the units ready built as usual, and all drawers and doors are supplied with soft close hinges. The worktops are 38mm solid oak which look and feel beautiful and help to give this kitchen its warm look.
Steve laid the solid tile floor faultlessly, about 50m2 in all which included the dining area in the old part of the house, and the utility room. Tiles are high quality Minoli Graal Arras floor tiles in three sizes across a 2m2 pattern requiring wet cutting.
Steve returned to the property at a later date once the customer had decided on the tiles for the splashback and windowsill.
The external extractor fan is located centrally over the hob and the electrics hidden behind the chimney.
The kitchen is fitted with an integral dishwasher beside the Howdens 1.5 bowl sink. Steve's electrician did the electrical work.
